Vision, Aims and Values

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do, enabling pupils to grow as confident learners and happy citizens.

Our Vision

Imagine a stimulating place ringing with the sound of children’s laughter.

See confident, reflective and playful learners, filled with their own sense of purpose and self-belief.

Listen in, as they discuss the challenge of new experiences, pose questions and solve problems.

Admire the high levels of academic, sporting and artistic achievement, as everyone strives to be the best that they can be.

Marvel at the use of technology as children explore the possibilities

See how learning extends beyond the school gates, to embrace the outdoors and wider community.

Enjoy the security and the harmony of a group of people who nurture and care for each other.

Sense their respect for people from different backgrounds and cultures, for society and the natural world.

Sense everyone’s pride in themselves, each other and their school.

This is our school – a place where we ‘Capture the imagination of young minds’.

A place where everyone shines with possibility.

Our Values

Our values began as a short list of four, but soon grew as children identified other values that they felt were important to encourage in school. We now have nine and we refer to them as ‘The 9Rs’. They are an integral part of our ‘C.L.I.M.B. Learning’ (Character Lies in My Behaviour) and underpin what we call ‘Poppleton Pride’. They are:

  • Respect
  • Responsibility
  • Resourcefulness and Readiness
  • Resilience and Risk-taking
  • Reflection
  • Reverence
  • Reciprocity

Equality Objectives
  • To provide a ‘literacy-rich’ curriculum of the highest quality, that engages and challenges all children in our school community
  • To provide an environment that excites and stimulates learning, fosters personal growth and responds to the individual needs of all children
  • To prepare our children for their future by providing a rich and broad education which has unique experiences and extra-curricular opportunities
  • To provide a sense of belonging to our children, families and staff in line with our motto: Belong, Believe, Achieve
